The Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) has announced that farmers are expected to harvest 16.44 million metric tons of maize for the 2024/2025 season, a 28% increase from the previous year.
The new projection reflects a major improvement from the 12.85 million metric tons harvested last season. It also represents a modest but meaningful upward adjustment from the CEC’s October estimate of 16.325 million metric tons, indicating continued confidence in crop performance as the season progresses.
